“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” Shakespeare
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” Shakespeare
Every culture has it’s own way of making sense of the unknown: Those things which can be felt but not measured, believed but not proven. Mythology, religion, and fairy tales of some form, fill the void of that which cannot be explained by science.
Through these images of children, I am exploring the embodiment of the Divine: Deities in human form, perfect creatures charging us with looking deeper into our spiritual selves.
Perfect from birth, our imperfections are only realized when we allow others to judge us: deeming us lacking in some way. We are too fat, too thin, too messy, too lazy, too mean, too silly, too judgmental.
Can we revisit the perfection with which we were born? Can we remember our Divine selves? What will it take for us to remember that that perfection never really left us, that we are still God-like in nature? These questions float through me as I photograph these perfect children.
